After London, Berlin is the most populous city in the European Union. More than 3.6 million people currently live in the German capital, which is also the fastest growing city in the country. The city is as diverse as its inhabitants. Amongst the most popular foreign nationalities are Turkey, Poland, Serbia, Italy, Russia and the United States. Overall- over 600,000 residents are of foreign nationality, originating from approximately 190 different countries. Roughly 50.6% of Berlin’s population is female.
